DIY Shabby Chic Flower Frame

Hello All and Happy Mother's Day!!!

I thought I'd share a frame that my kids and I made for my mom, their "Granny".

I got my inspiration from this PBS video...

Ever since watching it, I said to myself, we've gotta do this!

But this is for their Granny and I wanted it to be a bit sturdier, and well a bit more decor!
So I hit up Michael's and bought this one dollar wood frame.

Then I stole the egg crate from the fridge.
Hmm what do with the remaining 8 eggs, lol.

Then I painted it black with cheap acrylic paint.
I didn't even worry about covering it perfectly.

Then we painted it with a combination of different acrylic colors of paint, light blue, greenish blue and turquoise. We wanted to get as close to Robin's Egg color.

Then I sanded it down so some of the black would show.

Then we cut the egg crate. I let my son cut it,
and he made zig zags.
The other one we just cut down to the rim.

Then we painted them.

After coloring the yellow one,
we then colored the inside pink.

And then we just decorated the center.

Now, their already to adhere,
with just a dab of hot glue.

After adhering them, I painted some
light green leaves on them,
which made me super nervous, because
I absolutely stink at painting any design.
But whew, I was quite proud!

I put in an older picture of my kids,
but one that makes my heart smile,
and I know it will melt my mom's heart.
She can always change out the picture if she wants.

She can display this at home or her office.

I know she'll love it because her three favorite kiddo's
(that includes me, lol) made it with LOVE!

Thanks so much for tuning in!
Until Next time...
