Welcome to day 8 of the 12 Days of Christmas!
I am so sorry I had to skip a day. It's been so hectic. The kids missed another day of school, which means I have to work from home. Well 4 Days off with the kids going stir crazy, tempers from all of us were flaring.
I have so much real work to do, plus knitting orders, and much more. I finally had a break down, and just threw my hands up and cried a little. Sniff, that's ok, we all have to cry sometimes. I felt pretty down for a while. But today was a better day, THANK GOD!
As my mama always says, "Tomorrow will always be better".
And she is always right!
I got home today and our iceman is still standing, at 40 degrees, and directly in the sun. Ha, his eyes nose and buttons have melted off though. And look at what the harsh cold and ice did to our flag.
Anyway, I started working on this project before my meld down last night.
Making your own wrapping just makes your presents so beautiful, not only under you tree, but your friends and family will love getting them.
You'll need some brown postal paper, or painters paper. I ran out of the brown postal paper. So I used some of the painters paper. You can get a huge roll of the painters paper at Home Depot or Lowe's. I think its about $10. I haven't bought it in a while but its a lot for a cheap price. Now if you only want a little they sell it at Walmart, and Dollar store (the postal paper) in a small roll for $1-2.
STAMPS! Hopefully you already have some festive ones, but if not, Michael's sales theirs for around $1-2 for each stamp. You don't have to buy a bunch. Just a few different designs. You can always use the same stamp and just change up the ink color or paint (which is what I use).
I collect stamps. I buy them on clearance at Michael's and get them for anywhere from 25-50 cents.
Get your paints and brushes all ready, and paint the stamps.
Stamp away, but just fyi, keep applying the paint each time, because it will be too light and hardly noticeable.
I love the snowflakes!
Now onto some gift wrapping tips!
Out of twine or ribbon?
Use some yarn! Just add some decoupage to the limp wool kind, and it makes it stiff.
Or use cotton yarn, it has more life to it without having to add the decoupage it to it.
Not a good wrapper, well neither am I, except I can do Ice, Ice Baby. Oh wait thats rapping!
No seriously, or as Joey Gladstone would say "Cut it out"!
Anyone, what show that was from? .
Anyway...
Tape part of the wrapping on half of the back side of the gift.
Then fold it over, with the left over wrapping, fold it on the backside of the gift making it overlap. Make a crease and then fold it under.
Then tape it in the center. See, you now have a seamless present.
Ok well near seamless.
For a fundraiser, we gift wrapped at the mall, and I was taught the correct way. This was when I was 14, and I never forgot. I have a hard time wrapping any other way, and I am mad when my gift wrap scraps aren't long enough to do it the right way.
For the ends, fold the sides in making points to the top and bottom pieces.
Then fold the pieces down and fold over the top piece onto the bottom piece.
Now I just need to make some tags. Hmm, maybe a tutorial and download for those.
Thanks for tuning in guys! Hope to see everyone EVERYDAY for the next 4 Days!
Until tomorrow... (or the next day, lol)

ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to wrapping gifts for someone, you need to takecare of lots of what they like and what they don't, same like this what they need or what not. I provide ghost writing service so when any clients come to me for their project I need to be careful with their needs and ideas.
