My son has loved Nerf guns for about 4 years now. Every year his supply grows. My daughter had her barbies and dolls. But when they have came out with Girls Nerf Guns! Well of course my daughter was ALL over that!
She didn't get just one, but 4 guns. Apparently she told all of her relatives she wanted one. She and her brother have had a blast playing Nerf War.
Bubba has a vest though, but they do not make one for girls yet.
While Bubba has been wearing his, she has been wearing a camo vest. But it didn't have any pockets to hold her darts.
She's asked me this weekend if I could make her one. I said hmm, let me see that camo vest.
I simply started tracing it on some pink material I already had.
I traced the back of the vest.
Then I traced the front flaps of the front of the vest.
I made two of each part so I could double it, to make it thicker. I sewed the fabric pieces inside out and then turned it right side out so you couldn't see the seams.
I had just a tiny scrap of camo material. I turned it on the back side and traced the letters backwards.
I first glued it onto the vest and then used a zig zag stitch to sew it on.
To make the dart holders I measured the size of a dart and pinned it onto each side of the dart.
And then sewed next to each pin.
I then began to sew the pieces all together. First match up the shoulders, pin, and sew them right sides together.
Then below the arm hole sew the right sides together all the way to the bottom of the vest.
I also made some elastic holders for her guns on the back of the vest, and another one on the front of her vest.
Not as tough looking as her brother's but it's pretty pink and she loves it!
I say she looks tougher than bubba here!
Thanks so much for tuning in! I will see you guys tomorrow to announce the winner of the giveaway. Be sure to stop on by to find out if you won!
This is cute AND fun! It's okay to be pink and tough at the same time. :)
