Today, I thought hey, I think I'll show my readers how to make one. Its very simple. Well I say its simple. If you can knit or crochet for the base part you'll have not trouble.
The first thing you'll want to do is select you colors. Once you do that then select different textures and different shades of that color. My client wanted neutral colors. I am assuming its so she can use it on both boy and girl newborn shoots.
Cut each piece about 3 feet long.
Once you select the yarn, then select a cheaper wool color for the base part. I picked an off white wool cheap yarn.
Chain 26, then double chain all the back down, when you go back to the end of that row, then chain one and flip it over and double chain. Crochet 10 rows.
This for sure can also be knitted, it just so happens that I can crochet better than I knit.
If you have trouble doing either of those, I also saw a video on youtube; that shows you how to make one with a doily.
After you have made your base then group you yarn strands together. I used 7 pieces of yarn per hole.
Find your holes, and slip the yarn through the hole and then make a knot.
Continue filling all the holes, all the way around. My wonderful husband put up with all the yarn in the bedroom. I decided to do it in there so I could watch the Cowboys game with him. Ya, I know that was a waste of time. There was yarn everywhere. He helped me group my yarn together and he even let me borrow his bent knee to rest the blanke on while making it during at least half the game, lol.
Its hard to spread it out on the floor but this is what it looks like done.
And this is what it looks like in a basket. Thankfully my newest client/and now friend is going to take pictures of a baby in it for me. Muchas Gracias Pamela!
Thanks for tuning in! Have a great week! Until next time...
That's beautiful...all I can think of when I look at that is what a cozy fall blanket would feel like with that wonderful fringe...or a awesome tablerunner :-)
