Homemade Birthday Cake Ice Cream

Yes, yes it really is as yummy as it looks!

Do you have kids like mine that beg you weekly for Birthday Cake Flavored Ice Cream?

I say kids, but its really my daughter. If she doesn't have her weekly fixed she goes though withdrawals.

It got me thinking...
How hard would it be to make my own?

So with a little bit of experimentation I think I've come up with a pretty tasty recipe, and its easy too!

So for those who don't have an ice cream machine, stay tuned. The recipe is the same but the process will be different. Both seem to be quick and easy!

You will need...

1 box of white cake mix
1 stick or one cup of margarine
1 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
2 cups of heavy whipping cream
2 cups milk

Unfortunately the picture above doesn't have the milk,
but I added this photo anyways.

Melt the butter and add the butter and all of the ingredients into your ice cream maker.

And with a large spoon mix stir all of the ingredients together.

Place the metal container in the plastic bucket  and layer with ice and rock salts per manufacture instructions.

My machine said to let rotate for 40 minutes.

And it was plenty thick by then.

Add some sprinkles and dig in!

Now for the non machine way...

Prepare your ice cream the same exact way but instead of putting it into the machine place into a gallon size baggie.

Fill a large metal bowl with half ice. If you don't have a metal bowl any large bowl will do. Metal bowls tend to get colder quicker.

Place baggie in bowl of ice. Let sit for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes stir for a few minutes.
Then let sit for another 10 minutes and then stir again.

It should be ready after about 30 minutes. If not let it sit longer in the ice and every 5-10 minutes stir again.

And if all fails throw the baggie into the freezer. It won't take much longer to freeze it.

Thanks so much for tuning in!
Until Next Time...
